Susan Dietz, five-time Tony nominee and producer of such Broadway hits as “Fela!,” “The Little Dog Laughed” and “Mothers and Sons,” will be coming to UCLA in February to teach an immersive five-week course on the fundamentals of producing on- and off-Broadway shows.

The course, "Producing Theater Now," will focus on central aspects of the trade, such as production, budgeting, management, marketing, development, legal concerns, fundraising and artist relations. It will also feature guest lecturers who are both successful experts in their fields of Los Angeles and New York theater and some of Dietz’s closest colleagues.

“As a former educator, I have been waiting for the right time and place to share the information I have gathered, during my 35 years as a theater professional, with the next generation of entrepreneurs seeking opportunities in the business of theater,” said Dietz. “UCLA TFT’s Professional Programs couldn't be a more perfect place to launch this unique course. I can’t wait to get back in the classroom.”

Students will be admitted into the class through an application process with a deadline of Dec. 15, 2014. For international students, the deadline is Nov. 15, 2014. For more information on enrollment.
