Award-winning filmmaker Mandy Walker has been named the 2014 Kodak Cinematographer-in-Residence at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television (TFT). Most notable for her work in shooting “Red Riding Hood,” “Australia” and “Shattered Glass,” Walker will begin deepening film students' education through this 2015 residency.
This is the 15th year the residency has been sponsored by the Eastman Kodak Company. UCLA TFT is the only film school in the country to provide students direct guidance from an acclaimed cinematographer in a 10-week course through screenings, workshops and one-on-one sessions. The residency, which starts in December, will include hands-on workshops throughout the academic year to allow students direct collaboration with accomplished players in their field.
“We are honored to work with the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television on this very successful program,” said Kodak’s Bruce Berke. “Mandy Walker is an accomplished filmmaker. The students are guaranteed to learn much about the art and craft of filmmaking from her experiences.”
Walker will be join the ranks of previous acclaimed cinematographers, including last year’s Oscar-winning, Guillermo Navarro, known for his work on “Pan’s Labyrinth.” Others who have held this position include Dean Cundey (“Back to the Future”, “Jurassic Park”, “Apollo 13”); Roger Deakins (“No Country For Old Men,” “True Grit,” and “Skyfall”); and Owen Roizman, ASC (“The Exorcist” and “Tootsie").
