'American Winter,' a documentary about middle class families falling into poverty and searching for help, will be screened on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the UCLA Faculty Center. Presented by the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs as part of its Season of Service series, the free event will start with a cocktail reception at 5 p.m., with the screening at 6 p.m.
The film, which has proven to be a tool in helping to shift dialogue and perceptions about poverty, will be followed by a panel discussion with documentary director Joe Gantz, housing advocate Orlando Ward and social welfare professor Laura Abrams.
