Amy Blum, managing campus counsel at UCLA, has been appointed interim vice chancellor of legal affairs, Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Scott Waugh announced today.
Blum will report jointly to Chancellor Gene Block and UC General Counsel Charles Robinson and serve as a member of the UC Office of General Counsel, advising on the legal trends and needs of the UCLA campus and assisting Robinson in advocating and representing the interests of the UC regents.
Blum joined the Office of Campus Counsel as an attorney in 2004 and was later promoted to senior campus counsel and managing campus counsel. During this time, she has given advice on a broad range of legal matters in such areas as academic and staff employment, student conduct and student affairs policy and compliance, copyright and other legal compliance, computer security and notification requirements, information privacy, public records, workplace violence prevention, and litigation and risk management.
Blum’s appointment becomes effective Oct. 3, following the departure of the current vice chancellor of legal affairs, Kevin Reed, who was appointed vice president and general counsel at the University of Oregon.
