Join activist and documentary filmmaker Jennifer Siebel Newsom for a screening of "The Mask You Live In" at 4 p.m., April 16, in UCLA's Kaufman Hall, room 200.
The documentary film looks at social concepts and expectations of masculinity and how they negatively affect boys, men and society at large. Newsom has also worked on such films as "The Invisible War" and "Hunting Ground." This event is free and will include a discussion with the filmmaker about gender in the media, documentary filmmaking, advocacy and her experience in leading the nonprofit organization, The Representation Project.
Co-sponsors of the screening are UCLA’s Undergraduate Education Initiatives, UCLA World Arts and Cultures/Dance, UCLA Healthy Campus Initiative and ASPIRE (Academy for Social Purpose in Responsible Entertainment).
