Cornerstone Theater Company, an L.A.-based a multi-ethnic ensemble that produces plays with and about communities, presents "Voices from the Central Valley" on Sunday, April 17 at 3 p.m. at the Fowler Museum.
The theatrical reading includes passages from the theater company’s past productions that were inspired by the struggles of California's migrant workers, including "A Man Comes to Fowler" (2011) and "Pluma Negros" (2013). Interspersed with the readings are poems and songs written by José Montoya and performed by Cornerstone members and community actors from the Central Valley. Afterward, program participants join Richard Montoya, of San Francisco-based performance troupe Culture Clash, in a discussion of the role of community-based theater in the Central Valley and southern California.
The performance is free and open to the public. No reservation is required.
