Join history professor Sarah Abrevaya Stein and the UCLA Alan D. Leve Center for Jewish Studies for the launch of Stein's book, "Sephardi Lives: A Documentary History, 1700-1950" (Stanford University), at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21 at the UCLA Faculty Center.
Stein's book, winner of a National Jewish Book Award, draws from over 150 primary sources to explore the history and culture of Sephardi Jews. Vice chair of the history department and holder of the Maurice Amado Endowed Chair in Sephardic Studies, Stein was recently named a 2015 Guggenheim Fellow, an honor that recognizes innovative scholars who have demonstrated outstanding achievement and exceptional promise.
The book launch will include commentary from UCLA professor of history David Myers and professor Devin E. Naar of the University of Washington, moderated by Todd Presner, UCLA professor of Germanic languages, comparative literature, and Jewish studies.
