The campus community is invited to a free screening of the film “Selma” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 28 in Royce Hall as part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s visit to UCLA.
Nominated for an Academy Award for best picture, the movie is based on the Selma-to-Montgomery marches for voting rights and was directed by UCLA alumna Ava DuVernay. King gave his speech at UCLA on April 27, 1965, about a month after the marches took place.
The film will be introduced by campus representatives. A Q&A will follow the screening.
