United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon willl address guests at the Four Seasons Beverly Wilshire at a dinner April 5 hosted by the Los Angeles World Affairs Council, the UCLA Burkle Center for International Relations and the RAND Corporation.
He will discuss the role of the United Nations in an era of enormous challenges to world peace, human rights and global health care. The secretary-general will talk about why he thinks the United Nations is crucial to the future of humanity in these troubled times. His talk comes at a time when wars have rendered millions of civilians homeless, when growing violence and extremism have spread fear and countervailing extremism, and when environmental degradation and health crises have emerged as threats to the long-term well-being of our planet.
The cost to attend the three-course dinner and hear his talk is $125 for a UCLA Burkle Center attendee. Reservations for the event, which will begin at 7:30 p.m., must be made by Wednesday, March 30.
