Asad Madni, Distinguished Adjunct Professor in the department of electrical engineering at the Henry Samueli School of Engineering, has been inducted as an eminent member of IEEE-Eta Kappa Nu, the honor society of electrical engineers. The highest honor conferred by the society, eminent membership is awarded to those whose leadership and contributions in the fields of electrical and computer engineering have significantly benefited society.
Madni has led the development of intelligent micro-sensors and systems for aerospace, transportation and defense applications. Most notably, he has helped cultivate the control system for the Hubble Space Telescope’s Star Selector System as well as technology used for stability and rollover protection in passenger vehicles and systems and instrumentation for the U.S. Navy.
Madni has held various leadership positions, which include former chairman and CEO of the Systron Donner Corporation and former president, chief operating officer and chief technical officer of BEI Technologies. In addition, he has served as executive managing director and chief technical officer at Crocker Capital, a venture firm specializing in emerging technologies.
