Connie Kasari, a UCLA professor of education and psychiatry and a founding member of the Center for Autism Research and Treatment, was honored by Autism Speaks with its Acceleration Award. The award was given to Kasari to recognize her as a researcher who has made significant progress in the field of autism research and has distinguished herself as a leader in the field.
Kasari, who is credited as one of the world’s leading experts on autism and treatment, focuses her research on the core characteristics of social communication in children with autism spectrum disorder. In recent years, Kasari has teamed with Autism Speaks’ public health team to develop and deliver the World Health Organization Parent Skills Training program to support the development of children with autism in underserved communities worldwide, including the United States.
Kasari received the award at Autism Speaks’ event “Into the Blue, L.A. Fashion Gala” on Oct. 21.
