UCLA alumnus and Academy Award-winner John Williams, much lauded composer of epic scores for “Star Wars,” “Jaws” and “E.T.", recently dropped by UCLA's Herb Alpert School of Music. He visited lecturer Gloria Cheng's composition forum class, where he shared stories, advice and pencil sketches with students to demonstrate his orchestration process.
Tonight, at a gala event at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, Williams will be the first composer to receive the American Film Institute Life Achievement Award, which the institute describes as "America's highest honor for a career in film."
