Behzad Razavi, UCLA professor of electrical engineering, and UCLA postdoctoral researcher Hegong Wei have received the 2013 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Custom Integrated Circuits Conference (CICC) Best Paper Award for their paper, "An 8-Bit 4-GS/s 120-mW CMOS ADC." The research reported in this paper improves the power efficiency of analog-to-digital (ADC) converters by a factor of 3. Using a new timing mismatch calibration technique, this ADC is the first to reach such performance.
Razavi specializes in the design of integrated circuits for high-speed and RF communication systems. He and his students have received awards at multiple IEEE conferences.
