Andrea Kasko, associate professor of bioengineering in the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering, has been appointed vice chair of the American Chemical Society’s Division of Polymer Chemistry.
The society’s mission is to advance the broader chemistry enterprise and its practitioners for the benefit of society. As the vice chair, Kasko will support the chair and executive committee of the division while acting as liaison for division committees. She will also attend executive committee meetings and promote the interests of all members and division officials.
Kasko’s research interests include the synthesis of new polymeric biomaterials, specifically dynamically controllable biomaterials and biomimetic and bio-derived materials. She is the recipient of the 2012 and 2014 Doc Stevenson Award for outstanding faculty in residence.
