Kids — and the kid in you — are invited to “Down to Earth: Buggy Petting Zoo” to learn about and even touch some creatures that crawl, scurry, and slither across the earth. Taking place at the Fowler Museum on Sunday, June 8, 2-4 p.m., the “Kids in the Courtyard” event is being hosted in conjunction with “Earth Matters: Land as Material and Metaphor in the Arts of Africa,” an exhibition that examines the conceptually complex and visually rich relationship between individuals and communities in Africa and the land upon which they live. It features more than 100 exceptional works of art from the 19th–21st centuries, including powerful ritual sculpture and masks as well as paintings, photographs, videos, and sculpture by 41 internationally recognized and emerging contemporary artists from the continent and its diasporas.
The buggy petting zoo and admission to the Fowler are both free. Find more information here.
