In recent years, a global movement has challenged genetic modifications of our food — known as GMOs, genetically modified organisms — out of concern for human safety and environmental sustainability.
UCLA faculty and other experts discuss how we grow, buy, eat and think about food in “What’s So Bad About GMOs?” The Zócalo Public Square/UCLA forum takes place on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 7:30 p.m. at the Museum of Contemporary Art, 250 S. Grand Avenue, Los Angeles.
Panelists include UCLA molecular biologist Bob Goldberg, director of the Seed Institute; UCLA professor of environmental law Edward Parson, co-director of the Emmett Institute on Climate Change and the Environment; and former Los Angeles Times food columnist Russ Parsons. Moderating the discussion is Evan Kleiman, host of KCRW's “Good Food.”
