Design Media Arts professor Rebeca Méndez has been selected as one of 14 artists to create art installations that will decorate one of the stations on Metro’s forthcoming Crenshaw/LAX light rail line. Méndez’s work will be featured at the Crenshaw/Expo Station stop.
Méndez was selected through a thorough citywide outreach process — including a series of artist workshops, community presentations and on social media. Metro reached out to more than 5,000 artists and more than 1,200 responded.
Méndez’s work has shown around the world including at the ARCO Madrid 29th International Art Fair; X Biennial, Cuenca, Ecuador; the National Design Triennial; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; and the Centre Pompidou, Paris.
