Dr. Alan Felsenfeld, professor of clinical dentistry in the Section of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the UCLA School of Dentistry, was appointed chair of the American Dental Association’s (ADA) Commission for Continuing Education Provider Recognition. He is also the division chief in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.
The commission is tasked with administering the ADA's program of formulating and adopting requirements, guidelines and procedures for the recognition of continuing dental education providers, and approving providers that meet rigorous standards for quality.
A faculty member since 1978, Felsenfeld has received numerous awards, including Alumnus of the Year at the UCLA School of Dentistry and the Faculty Leadership Award from the UCLA chapter of the American Student Dental Association.
Felsenfeld’s areas of interest are in the surgical management of maxillofacial pathology, trauma, reconstructive surgery including dental implants, and orthognathic surgery. He has served in numerous leadership positions within the California Dental Association and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
