Dr. David Heber, professor emeritus of medicine and founding director of the UCLA Center for Nutrition, was inducted into the 2014 Class of Fellows of the American Society for Human Nutrition. The highest honor given by the society, this accolade recognizes individuals for their significant discoveries and distinguished careers in the field of nutrition.

Heber received the honor for his work and research into obesity and nutrition for cancer prevention and treatment. He has written over 200 peer-reviewed scientific articles, more than 60 book chapters and two professional textbooks: "Dietary Fat, Lipids, Hormones and Tumorigenesis" and "Nutritional Oncology."  In addition, he has written four books for the general public, including “Natural Remedies for a Healthy Heart,” “The Resolution Diet” and “What Color is Your Diet?”

Board-certified in internal medicine, endocrinology and clinical nutrition, Heber has served as director of the Certification Board for Nutrition Specialists of the American Society for Nutrition, and he is a past chair of the education committee and the Medical Nutrition Council of the society.
