Dr. Samuel Skootsky, chief medical officer for the UCLA Health System and adjunct professor at the David Geffen School of Medicine, along with UCLA's Project SEARCH recently received 2014 Healthcare Leadership Awards from the Los Angeles Business Journal. These awards honor individuals, organizations and programs that help members of the Los Angeles community receive better health care, and recognize those that lead the front lines of health care while also protecting the bottom line.

Throughout Skootsky’s tenure as chief medical officer, he has focused on elevating the quality standards of the UCLA health care organization and has been instrumental in working to redesign UCLA Health’s health care, both before and since the implementation of health care reform. Skootsky received the Healthcare Executive Award.

Project SEARCH is a program adopted by UCLA Health and UCLA Extension to provide education and training to young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through an innovative workforce and career development model that benefits the individual, workplace and community. It was a finalist for the UCLA-wide Community Outreach Award.
