Ellen Sletten, assistant professor of chemistry and biochemistry in the UCLA College, has been named a 2019 American Chemical Society Polymeric Materials: Science and Engineering Young Investigator.
The PMSE is committed to the advancement of the field of chemistry and improving collaborations between researchers. This division is dedicated to promoting the research and exchange of information in the field of polymers and new materials.
Sletten’s research focuses the unique properties of fluorinated materials to develop diagnostic and therapeutic technologies. Her research group at UCLA studies an interdisciplinary mix of organic synthesis, fluorous chemistry, chemical biology, nanoscience, supramolecular chemistry, polymer synthesis, photophysics and pharmacology. Sletten has previously been recognized with the NIH Director’s New Innovator Award and a 2018 Sloan Research Fellowship.
