For UCLA employees, the 10-day winter break closure will run from Wednesday, Dec. 24, through Friday, Jan. 2, 2026. Normal campus operations will resume on Monday, Jan. 5. The winter curtailment period includes four university-paid holidays (Dec. 24, 25, 31 and Jan. 1) as well as four non-holiday days (Dec. 26, 29, 30 and Jan. 2).
Employees with questions about using vacation or compensatory time during non-holiday days can consult the 2025–26 Winter Holiday Curtailment FAQs, the Campus Human Resources winter closure page or contact their supervisor or departmental HR representative.
To reduce operating costs and allow employees a well-earned break, most administrative, business and finance operations and support services in the Administrative Vice Chancellor and Vice Chancellor/Chief Financial Officer organizations will be closed during this period. Some departments may operate intermittently or follow modified service schedules.
Operational curtailments do not impact hospitals or clinics, which will remain open as usual. UCLA Health employees will receive separate communications regarding winter holiday operations.
Below are several reminders as campus prepares for the winter closure:
Police and emergency response
The University of California Police Department will maintain emergency response capabilities throughout the curtailment period. Campus police will provide 24-hour patrols, take police reports and respond to emergency medical service (EMS) calls. CSO escort service will be available nightly from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Buildings and facilities
Most campus buildings will be closed during curtailment. Heating, ventilation and air conditioning will be significantly reduced or shut off in buildings that are primarily unoccupied, while remaining operational in facilities that house research or other projects requiring continuous systems.
Departments that require facilities to remain open during the closure should notify Facilities Management at service@fm.ucla.edu. Facilities staff will provide services to support essential building operations and will be available continuously through their trouble call center, reachable at 310-825-9236.
Transportation and parking
Parking at campus pay stations will continue to operate normally. All campus parking structures and lots will remain open to permit holders, with the exception of the UCLA Meyer and Renee Luskin Conference Center lot, which will be limited to visitors and permit holders for that area. Online functions of the Bruin ePermit system will remain operational.
BruinBus, UCLA SafeRide and BruinAccess paratransit services will not operate during curtailment.
