UCLA faculty are invited to join University of California President Janet Napolitano and faculty colleagues from across the UC system for a one-hour online conversation on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2 p.m.
The Google Hangout will feature a small group of faculty “panelists,” Napolitano and moderator Mary Gilly, UC Academic Senate chair and a professor at UC Irvine’s Paul Merage School of Business.
Discussion topics are anticipated to include:
- Preserving UC’s quality and standing as the world’s top public research university
- Investing in UC innovation through the new UC Ventures fund
- Online education
- Maintaining access and affordability
- Faculty compensation and benefits
Napolitano will answer questions live, but to post a question or post a comment, you must sign in to the conversation with your Google account and gmail address. If you don't have a gmail address, you can still watch the Google Hangout live but you will be unable to post questions.
Although the event is aimed at faculty, any member of the UC community, news media and general public may participate as well.
This will be Napolitano’s fourth Google Hangout with members of various UC groups, with the goal of fostering an ongoing dialogue with the UC community. Previous online conversations were held with UC students, staff and alumni. See a previous chat with Napolitano here.
Note: Although the event is aimed at faculty, as an open Web chat any member of the UC community, news media and general public may watch the conversation and also submit a question or comment in the chat stream.
