The Fowler Museum at UCLA will open its doors to children and birds alike on Jan. 25 at 1 p.m. with “Kids in the Courtyard: Purdy Birdy.” The event is being held in conjunction with two new exhibitions, “Past Forward: Contemporary Art from the Emirates," and "World Share: Installations by Pascale Marthine Tayou."
"Past Forward" highlights the works of 25 notable Emirati artists who showcase the rich history, culture and rapid development of the United Arab Emirates. The program features several artworks inspired by bird imageries and contemporary life in the United Arab Emirates.
From 1-2 p.m., families will be able to see an array of exotic live birds from around the globe in the museum courtyard. From 2-3 p.m., attendees can explore their own bird-centric creativities at a birdhouse-crafting session. Using recycled materials, they'll be able to build a makeshift birdhouse, inspired by “Favela’s ABC,” a large contemporary art installation comprised of birdhouses in the exhibition, “World Share.”
