The UCLA Staff and Faculty Counseling Center is offering a new, six-week informational and support group, “Success in 2016: Intend to Act,” on Fridays, noon-1 p.m., through March 11. Open to all UCLA employees, the group will focus on helping participants create — and implement — personal, work-related and career goals for the coming year.
While the first session took place on Feb. 5, a second participant group has been formed and is accepting new members starting with the Feb. 12 session.
“Success in 2016” will focus on moving from a good intention — such as getting promoted, losing weight or spending more time with your family — to an action plan towards goal achievement. Through goal-setting exercises and other activities, participants will learn:
- The difference between goals and values and how a value-driven decision helps to achieve goals
- How to recognize a “decision point” and think about how your choices will move you closer to a goal or farther away
- How to make SMART goals to move beyond just thinking about goals to taking action to achieve them
- How to recognize roadblocks, obstacles and common traps that get in the way of personal and work goals
“Success in 2016” meets at the counseling center at 10920 Wilshire Boulevard, Suite 380. For questions or to sign up for the free group, call 310-794-0245.
