The “Helping U Help Your Community” contest has entered its final week of the public voting period and the David Geffen School of Medicine and UCLA Health need your help to select four winning projects that aim to transform health in the Los Angeles region. Each winning project will receive $20,000 in funding to support its efforts.

The contest provides support to community-partnered academic research and service-learning projects that address the most critical health needs of Los Angeles residents in innovative and effective ways. The contest also aims to showcase UCLA faculty and community partners who devote their careers to identifying creative solutions to some of the most challenging barriers to good health in the community.

David Geffen School of Medicine faculty who have partnered with one or more community organizations such as schools, churches, foundations or government agencies were invited to enter the competition last year. A panel of UCLA-appointed judges identified 10 of the most innovative proposals. Now, you — and members of the community — can vote on the final four until Saturday, April 30.

  • Bruin Shelter: A Student-Run Haven for Homeless Youth
  • Student Run Homeless Clinics: Healthcare for Those Most in Need
  • B-RESILIENT: creating apps together for community wellness
  • Outreach to Individuals with Serious Mental Illnesses in the Community
  • Giving Them a Voice: Advance Care Planning for the Homeless
  • Project AutTrain: Health Care Access for Adults with Autism
  • UCLA Alzheimer's and Dementia Care Program
  • A Clinic for the Developmentally Disabled in Underserved LA
  • The Southern Los Angeles Patient Navigation and Wellness Center Program
