Bruins are invited to participate in a series of events, demonstrations, giveaways and other fun and educational activities designed to strengthen the culture of campus safety and well-being. All activities are free and open to UCLA students, faculty and staff.
“Safety isn’t merely a box to check; it’s a commitment to our collective well-being,” said Curtis Plotkin, assistant vice chancellor of UCLA Environment, Health and Safety. “By being knowledgeable about safety topics and learning how to prevent accidents and injuries, we actively contribute to a better UCLA.”
Event highlights:
DuPont ThermoMan and ThermoHand presentations: Learn about the technology and witness the dramatic testing of lab coats and protective gloves against intense fire and heat. These presentations, followed by Q&A sessions and discussions about the latest in protective gear technology, will be held Monday, May 5, and Wednesday, May 7, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the CNSI Auditorium.
Emergency prep for the daily driver: More accidents and injuries happen while driving than during any other activity. Learn how to be better prepared. Sessions will be held Monday, May 5 and Wednesday, May 7, from 10 a.m.–noon at the Inverted Fountain in front of Pritzker Hall.
Health and safety fair: Enjoy free treats, enter drawings and win prizes Tuesday, May 6, from noon–3 p.m. in Wilson Plaza. Vendors include Grainger, GOJO/Purell, Dewalt, Thermo Fisher, Bulwark, Rubbermaid, Honeywell, Milwaukee and Primo Driving School, among others.
Venomous animals and poisonous plants workshop: Get a refresher course on what to look out for when you’re out in the field or on a hike. This educational workshop takes place Wednesday, May 7, from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. in Career Center Conference Rooms A and B, located on Level 3 of the Strathmore Building (501 Westwood Plaza).
