Mindfulness is the art of actively paying attention to experience in the present moment. This approach is known to reduce stress, improve attention, boost the immune system, reduce emotional reactivity and promote a general sense of health and wellness.
The UCLA Staff Assembly is hosting a free workshop on the basics of mindfulness self-care and stress management on Thursday, Jan. 17 in the J.D. Morgan Center in partnership with the UCLA Mindfulness Awareness Resource Center.
The workshop, which is from noon to 1 p.m., will include a presentation, exercises (meditation, interactive exercises) and Q&A with Marvin Belzer, adjunct associate professor in the department of psychiatry and biobehavioral sciences.
