Neuroscientist Dr. Adele Diamond and the children of the California Dance Institute present '"Insights from Neuroscience to Help Every Child Thrive," an interactive lecture-demonstration on how dance might aid brain development and critical cognitive skills in children, on Friday, Jan. 22 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Semel Institute Auditorium, 720 Westwood Plaza. The free event is sponsored by the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior and the Mind Well Pod of the UCLA Healthy Campus Initiative.
Diamond is a pioneer in the field of developmental cognitive neuroscience and is at the forefront of research on prefrontal cortex and executive functions. The California Dance Institute is an in-school dance and music program that teaches life and learning skills through dance, and is directed by Carole Valleskey, a former ballerina of Joffrey Ballet Company.
