John Hawkins, emeritus professor of social sciences and comparative education at the UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Studies (GSEIS), has published “Research, Development and Innovation in Asia Pacific Higher Education” (New York: Palgrave Macmillan, 2015), which focuses on the rapidly changing higher education environments in Asia and the Pacific Rim.
With co-editor Ka Ho Mok of the Hong Kong Institute of Education and Lingnan University, Hawkins explores the challenges posed by economic growth and social development, as well as recent policies and practices that promote research, development, and partnerships between universities, industry, and business in these regions.
Hawkins and Mok are launching the book this summer at the Honolulu headquarters of the Asian Pacific Higher Education Research Partnership, which Hawkins co-directs, and in Hong Kong this fall.
