Get involved in One Bus, One Cause events this weekend through the UCLA Volunteer Center, which engages a busload of volunteers in one-day community service projects.

On Saturday, May 3, 8 a.m.-2 p.m., volunteers will focus on beautification of the Watts Towers, a landmark of East Los Angeles. Volunteers will lay down soil, allowing the Watts Towers team to plant trees, flowers, and shrubs to improve the appeal of the site.

Also on Saturday is a visit to the Belmont Village Senior Center, a unique senior living environment that has a research-based program for Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., volunteers will have the opportunity to make a positive impact in the seniors’ lives through interactive activities such as as cookie decorating, gardening and crafting.

On Sunday, May 4, 9 a.m.- 3 p.m., a busload of Bruin volunteers will go to John Burroughs Middle School in L.A.'s Koreatown/Mid-Wilshire area to assist students and community members in painting murals to beautify the campus.
