As life expectancies increase, medical treatments advance and increasing numbers of people live with chronic illness and disabilities, many of us can expect to serve as caretakers. Learn how to become an effective, loving caregiver without having to sacrifice yourself in the process: Attend a free UCLA Staff Assembly presentation about the care of elderly family members, 12-1 p.m., Wednesday, July 22, at the Fowler Museum's Lenart Auditorium.
Presenting will be Ishara Bailis, a licensed social worker and program manager at UCLA Health Marketing Services and UCLA Health 50 Plus, and Monica Moore, community health program manager of the Mary S. Easton Center for Alzheimer's disease research at UCLA. Bailis and Moore will discuss available assessments, resources and community services, and will provide guidance to selecting the best-suited resources.
