Gerald Kominski, recently named Dean's Distinguished Scholar for 2014 in the Fielding School of Public Health, will deliver the Lester Breslow Distinguished Lecture on March 17. The lecture, titled "The Affordable Care Act: Will 2014 Finally be the Turning Point?,” will be delivered at a free event in the UCLA Neuroscience Research Building Auditorium at 4 p.m.
 
Kominski is a professor at the school and director of the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research. He has specialized in studies evaluating the costs of health care programs and technologies, with a special emphasis on public insurance programs, including Medicare, Medicaid and workers' compensation.
 
Kominski is currently working with Covered California to determine eligibility and likely enrollment in the subsidized marketplace. His current research interests focus on evaluating the effects of the Affordable Care Act on insured and uninsured populations.
