Vicki Steiner, a reference librarian at the UCLA School of Law’s Hugh and Hazel Darling Law Library, has received the 2014 Librarian of the Year award from the UCLA Division of the Librarians of the University of California. This award recognizes excellence in librarianship at UCLA, particularly when such an achievement furthers the teaching and research mission of the university and meets the intellectual, informational and cultural needs of its community.

Steiner was awarded for her contributions to the development of services and tools to support the open access publication of the law school’s journals — specifically, the content of nearly all of the law school’s world-renowned student-produced law reviews.

Steiner brings real-world law experience to the library. She previously worked as a partner at Collum & Steiner, LLP, where she was named a “Southern California Super Lawyer Rising Star” by the publishers of Los Angeles Magazine and the Journal for Law and Politics in 2005, 2006 and 2007. She holds a B.A. degree in English from the UC Irvine, a J.D. degree from UCLA School of Law and an M.L.I.S. degree from San José State University.
