Jennifer Mnookin, UCLA Law’s David G. Price and Dallas P. Price Professor, has received a three-year appointment as a member of the National Academy of Sciences Committee on Science, Technology, and Law. Mnookin will be joining an array of distinguished committee members from disciplines ranging from law and science to public service.
Mnookin is a prominent scholar in the field of evidence, particularly focusing on expert and scientific evidence, and the use of forensic science in court. Since joining the faculty of UCLA Law in 2005, she has served as the vice dean twice, in 2007-2009 and 2012-2103, while also sitting as faculty director and co-founder of the Program on Understanding Law, Science and Evidence.
In 1998, the National Academy of Sciences established the Science, Technology, and Law Program (now the Committee on Science, Technology, and Law) to bring together the science, engineering and legal communities. The group meets several times a year to discuss critical issues at the interface of science, technology and the law; to promote understanding; and to develop imaginative approaches to solving problems of mutual concern.
