Enlist your organizational and interpersonal skills, creativity and flexibility to serve as a project leader or task captain for the sixth annual UCLA Volunteer Day on Monday, Sept. 29.
The nation’s largest community participation event for students. UCLA Volunteer Day has become a cornerstone of the UCLA experience, taking place at the start of fall quarter during True Bruin Welcome. Sponsored by the UCLA Volunteer Center, the half-day event will take first-year freshmen and transfer students to paint murals,mentor schoolchildren, work on community gardens and more at schools, food banks, parks, shelters, veterans’ facilities and neighborhood centers in every council district in L.A. Also partcipating will be continuing undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents and community members.
As a project leader, you will be assigned to a community site to coordinate all aspects of the service project from start to finish, from advance planning to ensuring that the project is well-managed on Volunteer Day.
As a task captain, you will lead a team of 10-25 new student volunteers in performing their designated service on Volunteer Day.
Both roles require availability on Volunteer Day as well as for various training and information sessions in advance of the event.
