The latest result of the collaboration between UCLA lecturer Julia Koerner in the Department of Architecture and Urban Design and celebrated fashion designer Iris Van Herpen of Amsterdam was presented earllier this month during Paris Fashion Week at the haute couture show, "Bio Piracy."
 
Koerner teaches graduate students how to use the latest software tools to create and design adaptive surfaces that change in size and dimension, based on environmental influences, such as temperature and sunlight.
