Join UCLA’s Fowler Museum for a Bollywood and Bhangra dance lesson and performance with Blue13 Dance Company. Participants will have the opportunity to create jewelry to wear while their dance moves, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, March 12.
Families learn dance moves, songs and stories from a variety of cultures through Family Jam, an ongoing interactive performance series at the Fowler featuring musicians, artists and other performers from all over the world.
Blue13 Dance Company is a contemporary Indian dance theater ensemble based in Los Angeles, connecting diverse audiences through the power of live, aesthetically and culturally daring dance.
To supplement the jewelry-making experience, the Fowler encourages Family Jam participants to view the jewelry in “Enduring Splendor: Jewelry of India’s Thar Desert.” Currently on display until June 18, this exhibition focuses on the rich and diverse silver jewelry traditions of India’s Thar Desert region.
