The Psychiatric Clinical Faculty Association, along with the UCLA Psychiatry and the Cinema Interest Group, invites you to the third annual David Coffey Memorial Screening and Panel Discussion. This year, “Still Alice,” a film by Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland, tells the story of renowned linguistics professor Alice Howland who fights to stay connected to her family, friends and herself after being diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease.
A reception will be held at 5:30 p.m. followed by the screening at 6 p.m. at the James Bridges Theater. After the screening, there will be a discussion with Dr. Mark De Antonio, a professor of clinical psychiatry and director of the Inpatient child and adolescent service at the Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA; Dr. Benhaz Jalali, a clinical professor of psychiatry and director of the UCLA Family Therapy Clinic; Dr. Mario Mendez, the director of the Behavioral Neurology Program at UCLA; and Dr. Daniel A. Plotkin, a geriatric psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, clinical professor of psychiatry at UCLA and faculty member of the New Center for Psychoanalysis.
The event is a tribute to Dr. David Coffey, a psychiatrist and UCLA faculty member who died in 2012. He was a movie aficionado, and the annual screening is held in his honor.
