A panel of UCLA faculty with expertise in international politics, labor movements and more discuss Brazil's current political crisis on Wednesday, May 4, 4-5:30 p.m. at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs, Room 4357.

Panelists include:

  • William Summerhill, a UCLA history professor who is an economic historian of Brazil and the author of “Inglorious Revolution” (Yale Press, 2015) and “Order Against Progress” (Stanford Press, 2003)
  • Barbara Geddes, a UCLA professor of political science whose current research focuses on politics in dictatorships and who has written about autocratic politics and regime transition and bureaucratic reform and corruption
  • Roberto Véras de Oliveira, a visiting scholar at the UCLA Institute for Research on Labor and Employment and associate professor at Federal University of Paraíba
  • Manoel Gehrke, a Ph.D. candidate in political science at UCLA whose main research interests are political corruption and inequality, particularly in Latin America

Moderating the discussion will be Fabrício Fialho, UCLA Ph.D. candidate in political science.
