Nadereh Pourat, the director of research at the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research and a professor in the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health, has also been appointed director of the Center's Health Economics and Evaluation Research Program, effective January 1, 2015. Pourat will lead the program and is the primary lead in several ongoing research and evaluation projects on assessment of California delivery system reform programs related to the Affordable Care Act.
"Nady is a nationally recognized expert on health program evaluation and has been intimately involved with the HEER program. She is ideally suited to take on this additional leadership role," said Gerald Kominski, the center's director.
Pourat replaces Dylan Roby, who will leave the Center and California in the fall of 2015 to join the University of Maryland College Park's School of Public Health Department of Health Services Administration as a tenure-track assistant professor. Roby will continue to work on his many center projects until that time and will remain engaged in the UC Berkeley/UCLA California Simulation of Insurance Markets model and health policy work in California after his departure.
