Melnitz Movies will screen “Night Moves” on Thursday, May 22, 7:30 p.m. at the James Bridges Theater. The fifth feature film by acclaimed filmmaker Kelly Reichardt stars Jesse Eisenberg, Dakota Fanning and Peter Sarsgaard.
“Night Moves” is the story of three radical environmentalists coming together to execute the most intense protest of their lives: blowing up a hydroelectric dam — the very source and symbol of the energy-sucking, resource-devouring industrial culture they despise. The activists include Harmon, a former Marine radicalized by tours of duty overseas; Dena, a high-society dropout sickened by the consumer economy into which she was born; and Josh, their leader, a self-made militant devoted to the protection of the Earth by any means necessary.
The Atlantic has called the film "a disquietingly beautiful, deeply intelligent thriller about radical activism and its consequences — both material and moral — in 21st century America."
