UCLA's student-run HOOLIGAN Theatre Company presents "Pippin" at Schoenberg Hall on Thursday, Nov. 17, Friday, Nov. 18 at 8 p.m. On Saturday, Nov. 19, the musical will run at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
"Pippin" tells the story of a young prince who longs to find meaning and fulfillment in his life. Guided by the Leading Player, Pippin struggles to create an extraordinary life by following his distracted father to war, exploring sexual promiscuity and planning a revolutionary coup. When his search cannot combat his existentiality, the prince falls in love with Catherine, a widow with a young son.
Much to the Leading Player’s chagrin, Pippin struggles to decide whether he should settle down and pursue a peaceful life or continue to make magic with the dazzling troupe of performers.
The performance will feature UCLA students of different majors and grade levels, and it will also be completely produced and designed by students. Tickets, available at the Central Ticket Office, are free to UCLA students; $10 for non-UCLA students; $20 for UCLA faculty, staff and teachers; and $25 for general admission. There is discount for groups of more than six.
