More than 3,800 guests will arrive on campus this Friday, Oct. 30, for UCLA Parents’ Weekend. The three-day event gives families of new Bruins a taste of campus life and strengthens their connections to UCLA.
The weekend will include faculty presentations on a wide range of subjects, including “Snow Business: Scientific Computing in Frozen and in the Classroom” by Joseph Teran, professor of applied mathematics, and “Under Construction: Understanding the Teenage Brain” by Adriana Galván, associate professor of psychology and director of the Developmental Neuroscience Laboratory at UCLA.
Among the many other events on the jam-packed agenda are parent and family workshops that offer informative and interactive insights into life on campus; Office Hours sessions where questions about academics, campus life, career services and financial resources can be answered; family yoga, a fun run and other recreational activities; and an option to attend the UCLA versus Colorado homecoming football game at the Rose Bowl on Saturday, Oct. 31.
