A founding member of “The Doors,” drummer John Densmore has co-written and produced numerous gold and platinum albums and has toured the United States, Europe and Japan. On Thursday, May 15, noon-1 p.m., Densmore will discuss his new book,"The Doors Unhinged: Jim Morrison's Legacy Goes on Trial," in the Bunche Center Authors' Series. His book discusses the conflict between Densmore, Jim Morrison and their band mates as they fought over the right to use the band's name. Densmore also examines how this conflict reflects a much larger societal issue: that no amount of money seems to be enough for even the wealthiest people.
Densmore has a personal history with the Bunche Center. In 1991, he established an endowment at the Bunche Center to support UCLA undergraduate students who major or minor in Afro-American Studies.
Copies of his book will be available for purchase at the event, which will be held in the downstairs lounge of the UCLA Faculty Center. To RSVP, visit the Bunche Center.
