The Academy Award-winning feature film that made a name for director Robert Altman, "M*A*S*H" (1970), will screen at the UCLA Hammer Museum's Billy Wilder Theater on Saturday, April 26, 7:30-10:30 p.m. in a comedy double-feature with "Pot au feu" (1965). Depicting a mobile army surgical unit in Korea that used humor and hijinks to keep their sanity in the face of the horror of war, "M*A*S*H" offers a portrait of America's war project observed from a radically ambivalent emotional remove, revising the American war film as devoid of its usual sentimental underpinnings.

Appearing in person at the screening will be "M*A*S*H" cast members Corey Fischer, Sally Kellerman and Tom Skerritt, editor Danford B. Greene and Michael Altman, the director's son, who wrote the lyrics to the film's famous theme song,  "Suicide is Painless." The event is part of a retrospective of Altman's work, presented by the UCLA Film and Television Archive.

Tickets are $10 online, $9 general admission, $8 for non-UCLA students, seniors and UCLA Alumni Association members, all with valid ID; free for UCLA students. Find more information at the UCLA Film & Television Archive.
