Pianist Gloria Cheng, lecturer in the UCLA Department of Music, has been nominated for a Grammy Award. Her album, "The Edge of Light," (Harmonia Mundi) is under consideration for the award for best classical instrumental solo. Cheng won a Grammy in this category in 2009.
She has won widespread acclaim as an artist whose recitals and recordings explore and reveal significant interconnections between composers. Noted for her illuminating programs and devotion to tapping the emotional core of contemporary music, Cheng has been presented in recital by the Ojai Festival, Chicago Humanities Festival, William Kapell Festival, Mendocino Festival and Tanglewood's 2012 Festival of Contemporary Music.
She has appeared on leading concert series, including Carnegie Hall's Making Music, Cal Performances, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra Engine408, Stanford Lively Arts and at (le) Poisson Rouge.
