Elizabeth Ligan Bjork and Robert Bjork, professors of psychology in the UCLA College, have received the 2020 Association for Psychological Science Mentor Award.
The award honors the importance of mentoring in the field as well as the dedication and impact of individuals with a distinguished record of teaching, advising, and encouraging students and colleagues who go on to have productive and influential research careers.
Elizabeth, also an elected member of the Society of Experimental Psychologists, mainly researches the study of human memory, in particular, the role that inhibitory processes play in creating an adaptive human memory system.
Robert, also a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, researches human learning and memory and the implications of the science of learning for instruction and training.
