Associate professor Heather Roberge is a recipient of the Emerging Voices 16 Award from the Architectural League New York. The award spotlights individuals and firms in North America with distinct design “voices” that have the potential to influence the disciplines of architecture, landscape architecture and urban design.
The jury reviews significant bodies of realized work and considers accomplishments within the design and academic communities. The work of each "emerging voice" represents the best of its kind and addresses larger issues within architecture, landscape and the built environment.
Roberge, a faculty member since 2002, is the founder and principal of Murmur: Architecture and Environments and holds the positions of associate vice chair of UCLA’s Department of Architecture and Urban Design and director of the Undergraduate Program in architectural studies.
Roberge’s research and professional work investigate the spatial, structural, and atmospheric potential of digital technologies on the theory and practice of building. Her work emphasizes innovative approaches to material, computation and manufacturing as opportunities to expand the formal vocabulary and spatial implications of building envelopes and assemblies.
