Susan Babey, a senior research scientist at the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research and co-director of its Chronic Disease Program, has been invited to participate in the Physical Activity Technical Advisory Committee for the California Strategic Growth Council. The state council is a multi-agency, cabinet-level state committee comprised of agency secretaries from business, transportation and housing; California Health and Human Services; California Environmental Protection Agency; and the California Natural Resources Agency; as well as the director of the Governor's Office of Planning and Research. The committee will provide expertise regarding incorporating physical activity promotion into urban planning efforts.

Babey will also be giving a presentation at the Active Living Research Conference on March 10 in San Diego. Babey's presentation is titled, "Cross-Sectional and Longitudinal Association of Different Indicators of Park Access with Body Mass Index."
